NBC Told To Sanction BBNaija Organizers For Public Smoking.

The Nigeria Tobacco Control Alliance, NTCA, an against tobacco bunch, and the Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) have mutually kept in touch with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to endorse the Big Brother Naija show.

The BBNaija show which has entered season 6 show ‘Shine Ya Eyes’, was blamed for mocking the public authority’s order on smoking.

The group demands that move should be made by the appropriate agency of government to endorse the show.

In a letter seen by DAILY POST, the counter tobacco association helped the NBC to remember its mandate to the coordinators of BBNaija show.

It said arrangements of the National Tobacco Control Act 2015 and the National Tobacco Control Regulations 2019, which restricted notice and advancement of tobacco has been penetrated.

Citing the specific section of the offences, the group asserted: “Section 12(1) of the NTC Act 2015.”

The letter which was together endorsed by heads of the two associations, CAPPA’s Executive Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi, and NTCA Program Manager, Chibuike Nwokorie, needs the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Balarabe Shehu Ilelah to make a brief move.

They grumbled that the program was a captivating one and children beneath age 18 are attracted to it, adding that the housemates were seen smoking cigarettes on August 2, 5, 10, 11 and 13.
